About Us
Library History:
The Owensville Carnegie Public Library was completed on October 1, 1917 and had a collection of 1,450 items. The building’s construction costs of $12,800 dollars were matched by American businessman and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie – OCPL is one of one-hundred and sixty-four public libraries in Indiana built with Carnegie Grants.
Today, the library boasts a collection of over 26,000 items and holds hundreds of programs annually for patrons of all ages. It’s historical nature and location in the center of town makes it a perennial feature of the town’s landscape.
